what vitamins to take?

Hi everyone,

I have another question for all of you.  I have read in your conversations many times, that it is important to take certain vitamins to help control seizures.  I would like to know which vitamins and amounts etc are important to help with seizures?  We are going to the doctor soon and I would like to bring this up at our visit (and know what I'm talking about). Thanks

Penny

Hello

I take a multivitamin that is supposed to be for people prone to mild depression. It has more B vitamins than other multivitamins. I also take calcium & magnesium in one tablet. I also take vitamins D (1000 I.U.)& E(400 I.U.) and Ginkgo. As a precaution I also take a time-release B-Complex 100 and a sublingual B12, 3000 mcg. I have a family history of depression and I have been prone to seasonal depression in the past. This year I feel just fine. The only meds I take are tegretol 400 mg/day.

Hello, my name is Dee-Dee and I was on the computer two days ago and I happen to run across this web-site that said this little girl was born with a learning disability and had 5 to 10 seizures aday and had cerebral palsy and  by taking these vitamins  that It helped her stop her 5 to 10 seizures and helped her to start speaking alot clearly so people can understand her.  And it helps with cancer allergies shillings and alot more human's and animals can take these vitamins and if anyone know what I am talking about please email me, and while I was on the web I ran across what I was asking. And it is called granules  and you can not  get them in the stores you have to order them.  And while I was reading your emails I saw where omega 3 fatty acids, b complex,b vitamins B6, magnesium, calcium, 400mg folic acids help for your seizures and I would like to know witch vitamins whould be the best to take.  Take Care Dee-Dee

I just started giving my daughter omega 3 and they do have pills (they are huge) and they have oil these are both said to give you fishy burps yuck, so the lady at the health store told me to try one called Coromega it's in a box w/ individual packs and it has an orange flavor thats not bad at all.  I don't want to jump the gun, but it seems I can tell a difference in my daughters absence seizures. Good luck everyone

My neuro mentioned folic acid to me. I don't know if its been effective, but I do take it in a multi-vitamin that is generally good for health.

Hi Penny:My son's peditrician told me that for my son's age and weight that 1/2 tsp is the dosage for Omega 3 -fish oil.. Also that most helath food/ vitamin stores should carry it in a liquid form. My son is 3 and 1/2 yrs old and weghs about 33 - 35lbs. I haven't tried it yet. My son's dr also told me that the vit can't hurt him, as long as I keep his sz meds the same. Hope that helps. Please let me know what your Dr says. I am anxious to start the Omega 3 vit and see if it does help with his szs in hope that in a year we can drop one of his meds. He is taking both Topamax and Zoration. All the best to you.Mlb

MLB, I have had very good success with omega three. I take the capsules but a very small amount. I got rid of 234 auras a month and nine seizures a month. I take capsules but they say the oil is better which is suppose to be taken with cottage cheese or yogurt. I have taken it in the past and I just dont feel like dealing with the oil.

best of luck

Hi,  I have been using vitamin B6 for over 37 years to control my seizures.  My medication now consists of all eight B vitamins only.  AEDs have never had any positive effects on my seizures.

Here is my story with some useful links:  http://nse-forum2.jamkit.com/viewtopic.php?t=14802

DO NOT ALTER ANY MEDICATION WITHOUT YOUR DOCTOR'S CONSENT.
