Varying forms of tonic clonic seizures!

Hi,

I had what i usually call my "funny five minutes" last night, usually involves aura type feelings, shaking and crying.  Balance goes and dosn't really return for a little while after and i usually find it hard to respond to others during this time.  Lasts anything from 5 to 15 minutes.

Last night was different and i wanted to pick peoples brains.  When i described it to my flatmate, she suggested it sounded more like a tonic clonic seizure, as oppose to a partial seizure, which my "funny five minutes" is usually labelled under.

I had the aura feelings, out of control sobbing, but different this time was both arms and legs were jerking and i felt i had no control over this.  I couldn't stop moving.  In comparison to my other "funny five minutes", i described it to my flatmate as one of the worse i had had.  I was on my own and it was when falling asleep, so there is no witness to know if awareness was complete throughout, but i certainly was aware of my body moving uncontrollably.

Is there a such thing as a tonic clonic where some level of awareness is kept?

I want to say yes, i think there are times that I am semi-conscious during. But, is it during, or do you think it's as you are coming out? My husband says my "noises & ramblings" start to come after the actual seizure is over, but I could swear sometimes I'm there.  We were in the car one day, driving to a friends house. What I felt was my eyes rolling, my arms locked up next to me, and my extremeties started jerking for a good few seconds (ithink, I'm never too good with the time frame), but I was there. My husband pulled over the car, and by then it was gone, I never went completely out though.

Will we ever have exact answers?
