Feeling like im "tripping" while reducing clobozam

Hi,

I've recently started reducing the amount of clobozam tablets I've been taking and every day i dont take any i end up feeling like i'm in another world.. I've been taking 2 tablets a day every day one in the morning and one in the evening. I'm reducing it by only taking one one day a week.  eg. the first week i took one everyday except for sat morning, the next week i only took one on thurs and sat, the week after was tues, thurs and sat, etc.. I'm also taking 750mg of Keppra twice daily.

The problem as I mentioned in the subject is that every day i only take one tablet of clobozam I feel like im "tripping" which obviously isnt the best state of mind to be in at work... Is this a known side effect of reducing this med?? I went out on sat night had a couple drinks and I ended up feeling like i was on ecstacy for gods sake, it's a great feeling but at the sametime I hate it! Is this a sign that I shouldnt be reducing it? or should I just put up with the side effects and take some time off work until i've reached the stage i'm trying to reach?

Help! :(

Cheers,

 Marc.

Marc,

It sounds like you elected to do the weaning yourself.  Weaning from any AED needs to be done slowly, especially with meds from the Benzodiazepine family.  I don't know how many miligrams of Clobazam you're taking but it really should be done very slowly, to minimize the withdrawal systems and to reduce the risk of seizures, often even decreasing by 1/2 tablet every two to three weeks.  I'd certainly contact your physician and ask him for advice.  I don't think there is an interaction between Clobazam and Keppra so I think what you're experiencing is related to withdrawal symptoms.
