Tegretol has controled my generalized seizures for the past 20 years, but a recent bone density test has showed that I have osteopenia and need to switch meds. My calcium and Vitamin D levels were higher than normal but with tegretol he said my bones will still get malnourished. He said trileptal will not give you anemia like tegretol but it can effect your bone density. He first wants to try Keppra. I did some reading on Keppra and it seems it's made particually only for partial seizures?
Does anybody with generalized seizures take Keppra?

I know I have been on Keppra now for nearly eight years and I have complex partial seizures as well as secondary generalized seizures. I know the four neurologists I have gone through have all kept me on it and I am still on it. The only thing that has changed over the years is the dosage. It along with carbatrol has really reduced the amount of seizures significantly. It has dropped the number of complex partial seizures and has made the secondary generalized seizures a very rare occurence (maybe twice a year whereas I was averaging around three a month before).
my daughter is 10 1/2 months. she has been on keppra since she was 7 months and she has atonic seizures aka drop seizures.
