Success with complementary treatments

Hello, I am new to this site today. I once again went on the internet searching for updated/ helpful information on epilepsy and was excited to find this web site. We have had success for my son in the past years with alternative/complimentary therapies in conjunction with perscribed medication. If we go off the supplements, organic healthful eatting, energy medicine such as reiki, hands on energy work, massage work, etc. his seizures tend to increase and no medicine has seemed to help control seizure activity. I am curious to hear from others who have tried alternative therapies along with their perscribed medications. I have not found much info. on this so would like others in-put. We have since moved from a busy city area to the quiet, sage brush high desert of Oregon to raise natural beef and  we are loving this additional change in life style.

Any sugestions or in put on your experiences?

Thank You! Annam

There is a lack of solid info on some alternative or complementary treatments as many have not been studied well. There is a very good book on alternative therapies in epilepsy edited by Dr. Devinsky and Dr. Schachter. Visit the shopping section of epilepsy.com and you'll find this book in the booklist or on amazon.com!

Thanks for sharing your experiences!

What type of massage are you talking about. Is this something that be done at home? I have been checking about the reiki but the nearest person is an hour and a half a way from where we live.  My ten year old son has BRE. Seizures are pretty well controlled with keppra and vitamins, fish oil. Email me at curtis.wybourn@qbeamericas.com

Thanks!!
